A Move To Zero storytelling opportunity to take customers through the processes of Nike’s sustainability efforts in product design and manufacturing. Trash Transformed took the aesthetic of a manufacturing plant or lab that transformed trash or waste product into something new.
The ‘Lab’ featured intricate storytelling vitrines that showcased the process of waste moving across a conveyer, into the ‘hopper’ and into a new material state such as Nike Grind, Nike Air bags, and Nike Crater Foam soles.
The footwear wall showcased ‘trash prototypes’ I hand made behind actual Move To Zero Nike Product.
I engaged rework artists to use deadstock Nike fabrics and trims to upcycle Nike product for display on mannequins. The artists also contributed to a Trash Hacker How-To guide that explained their processes to customers so they could upcycle their own products at home. The Trash Hacker Kit was made from deadstock fabric into a tote bag, sustainable ‘fix it’ patches, and a sewing kit.
